BRIAN SCHAUB OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder from Hatfield, Pa., has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Saturday, February 28 through Sunday, March 6. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 4

Schaub led the 17th-ranked Tiger baseball team to a series split with No. 6 UW-Whitewater over the weekend, including a pair of walkoff victories for Trinity. Schaub hit .429 (6-of-14) for the weekend, scoring four runs to go with nine RBI, and smashing three home runs among his six total hits to push his slugging percentage to 1.071 for the four games. He also drew four walks and was hit by a pitch for a .579 on-base percentage. In the series opener on Thursday, he hit a game-tying homer in the fourth, then tied the game with another bomb in the seventh and tallied five RBI in the game. In game two of Friday's doubleheader, he crushed a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to lift Trinity to a 10-9 walkoff victory. This season, Schaub is hitting .324 (11-of-34) with eight runs scored and 12 RBI. This week marked his first home runs of the season and his slugging percentage is now .588. He picked up four of his 10 walks this year over the weekend series, upping his on-base percentage to .478 for the season.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior designated hitter Zack Mahoney of Austin College had a huge week at the plate as the ‘Roos went 3-1, batting .538 with a .632 on-base percentage and a 1.385 slugging percentage. Mahoney had five extra base hits, including two doubles and three home runs, while driving in eight runs and scoring nine. He also drew five walks in the team's four games. Senior catcher Ben Bridges of Centenary was one of a handful of players to turn in impressive offensive performances during the Diamond Gents' seven-game road trip to the west coast last week. He went 9-for-21 (.428) at the plate with eight RBI, six runs scored, four walks, and a double. He had 12 total bases, stole a base, walked once with a pair of multi-hit games including a season-high tying four-hit performance in Centenary's 19-3 win over Occidental in game two of a DH on March 5. Junior infielder Henry Fisher of Southwestern sparked the Pirate offense in his first start of the season, hitting 4-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored in Southwestern's 10-9 win over Susquehanna. Sophomore first basemen Tyler Post of Texas Lutheran drove in five runs and batted .333, going 4-for-12 at the plate in a three-game sweep of non-conference for Sul Ross St. last weekend.
