Jacob Galan, Trinity University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 1)
JACOB GALAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, September 6th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 1)

Galan solidified a Trinity backline that helped lift the Tigers to a pair of wins last weekend over Occidental and Willamette, including a 2-0 shutout victory over the Bearcats on Sunday. The senior made numerous plays to stop big runs and anchored a defense that allowed just three shots on goal in the opener against the California Tigers. He also chipped in offensively registering an assist and drawing a penalty after making a decisive run out of the backfield that led to a late insurance goal for Trinity. Then Galan played a major role in helping to post a shutout in the second fixture of the year, winning balls out of the air on corners and helping limit the Bearcats to just four shots on goal in the win. Galan’s efforts have helped Trinity post a perfect 2-0 mark through the opening two fixtures for the second-straight season.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper Keleher Felton of Colorado College allowed just two goals and corralled six total saves in a pair of victories last weekend for the Tigers. Felton was particularly a standout in opening 2-1 overtime fixture against Gustavus Adolphus were he recorded five saves in the victory. For the week, Felton posted a .750 save percentage in net. Freshman goalkeeper Hayden Hampton of Dallas posted a pair of shutouts and corralled 10 saves as the Crusaders are out to a perfect 2-0 start for the first time since 2016. Sophomore defender Mason Lubbe of Schreiner led a defense that improved each game, allowing just one goal in its final game of the weekend a tough 1-0 loss to Sul Ross. Junior goalkeeper Jack Viles of Southwestern opened the season with a shutout victory last Wednesday against McMurry and totaled eight saves in three games en route to posting a 2-1 record in the opening three fixtures for the Pirates. Sophomore defender Juan Gomez of St. Thomas anchored a backline that surrendered just five shots on goal and one goal in a pair of opening victories for the Celts last week.
