Whittington notched a pair of singles victories as the sixth-ranked Tiger men's tennis defeated both Southwestern and Colorado College over the weekend. Whittington scored the first point of singles in the win over Southwestern, winning 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to make it a 3-1 match score at the time. He came back Saturday morning and put Trinity up 6-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at line two.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Travis Rafferty of Southwestern went 2-0 over the weekend in conference competition. Playing at No. 4 singles, Rafferty earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Trinity's Ethan Flores and then, bumping to the No. 3 line, a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win against Colorado College's Aiden Little. Senior Andrew Kaelin of Colorado College, ranked No. 11 in the West Region, posted a 2-1 record at the No. 1 singles position against SCAC opponents last weekend. He opened the weekend with 6-3, 6-3 victory over Steven Kuang of St. Thomas and closed it with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Joseph Snyman of 31st-ranked Southwestern. Kaelin battled Jared Perry, ranked sixth in the West Region, of sixth-ranked Trinity to three sets before falling 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Graduate student Carson Kirk of Schreiner picked up his 10th consective win at No. 1 singles, defeating St. Thomas' Zhanlue Kuang, 6-3, 7-6, on Saturday.
