LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The All-West Region team was released by D3baseball.com on Tuesday and nine Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) athlete were recognized, highlighted by a trio of First Team honorees in Texas Lutheran's Tyler Cauley and Trinity's Tyler Pettit and Jack Wisniewski.
Cauley, a senior outfielder from Baytown, Texas, was named SCAC Player-of-the-Year and earned First Team All-SCAC honors for the fourth time in his career this year. He finished towards the top of the league in multiple offensive categories including RBI (48 – 2nd), home runs (13 – 2nd), runs scored (43 – T8th), hits (50 – T12th), total bases (99 – 1st), sacrifice flies (9 – 1st) and slugging percentage (.623 – 3rd). His 41 career home runs is tied for second all-time in league history and his 199 RBI are good for fifth. This is the second appearance on the D3baseball.com All-West Region First Team for Cauley, he also earned the distinction in 2018.
Pettit, a First Team All-SCAC selection was named First Team All-West Region catcher after leading the league in runners caught stealing with 10 and allowing just 36 total stolen bases all season, which ranked him third best in the SCAC. Offensively, the junior posted a .376 batting average, with 44 hits, 40 RBI and 27 runs scored.
Wisniewski, who was tabbed with All-SCAC First Team honors, was named First Team All-West Region second baseman following a season in which he posted career highs in hits (50), runs scored (34), doubles (13), triples (4), RBI (41), stolen bases (6) and on-base percentage (.424). This year marked the first appearance on an All-Region team for the junior.
In addition, the SCAC had two athletes land on the All-West Region Second Team in Centenary's Preston Ludwick and Tyler Welch.
Ludwick, a senior from Pflugerville, Texas was named SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Year and earned First Team All-SCAC honors as both a first baseman and a pitcher, landed on the All-West Region Second Team as a pitcher. Ludwick went 8-2 on the mound with a 4.09 ERA and led the SCAC is wins (8), strikeouts (77), and limited opponents to just a .189 batting average.
Welch had an outstanding senior year for the Gents, earning Second Team All-SCAC accolades, SCAC All-Tournament honors and earned his spot in the Second Team All-West Region team as the designated hitter. The Lake Charles, La., native hit .383 with an on-base percentage of .430 and slugged .539. He collected 49 hits, scored 28 runs, and had 14 extra-base hits, including 10 doubles. In 128 at-bats he only struck out 10 times while drawing 13 walks.
Rounding out the SCAC All-West Region selections were Trinity's Rafe Chaumette, Southwestern's Travis Harvey and Centenary's Cody Crowder and Parker Primeaux.
Chaumette, a senior outfielder and four-time First Team All-SCAC performer led the league in both hits (67) and batting average (.406) this season. He finishes his career fourth all-time in league history in hits (265) and tied for fifth in triples with 16.
Harvey, a left-handed starting pitcher from Cedar Park, Texas, compiled a 4-2 record for the Pirates. In 42.2 innings pitched, he struck out 51 hitters with a 4.64 ERA, leading the SCAC in strikeouts per game with 10.76 and earning First Team All-SCAC.
Crowder earned First Team All-SCAC honors as an outfielder and landed on the Third Team All-West Region team after batting .331 with a .467 on-base percentage and a team-best .558 slugging percentage. The senior led the SCAC in both runs scored (51) and triples (6) and finished second in the league with 14 doubles.
Primeaux earned his spot on the All-West Region Third Team as a relief pitcher after earning First Team All-SCAC honors in his sophomore season. His 10 saves on the season currently rank him first in all of Div. III and his 3.22 ERA is best in the SCAC. He made a team-high 27 appearances, posting a 3-4 record on the mound in 64.1 innings of work, allowing just 56 hits and 23 earned runs on the season.
