Trinity Lengthens Lead Heading Into Final Day of SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship

Trinity leads the team standings with 728 points. Colorado College sits in second place with 606 points while Southwestern University rounds out the top three with 430 points. 

In diving, Wyatt Wellehan of Colorado College took top billing on the 1-meter board, becoming the second CC diver to earn a victory in the event after he tallied a winning score of 478.15 points. His win snapped an eight-year winning streak for Trinity in the event. Trinity's Konstantine Partalas was second after totaling a mark of 456.00 points. Rounding out the top three was Aidan Richter of Colorado College who recorded a score of 449.75 points. 1-Meter Interview

Trinity kicked off the evening session by recording its fourth straight win in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the Tiger quartet of Michael Kohl, Nate Perez, Trace Briones, and Nathan Early touched the wall first in 1:22.18. Michael Kohl became the third swimmer in SCAC history to three-peat in the 100-yard butterfly after he clocked a winning time of 48.15 seconds. The time earned him an NCAA 'B' cut designation. The individual title was the 11th of his career, tying him with Ryan Vander Kar of Trinity for most in league history. His teammate Trace Briones was second, touching the wall in 50.55 seconds. The 400-yard IM saw Trinity's John Key become the first repeat champion since 2017-2019. His winning time set a SCAC championship meet record of 4:00.60. Placing second was teammate Ryan O'Leary with a mark of 4:02.11. Rounding out the top three was Southwestern's Andrew Renninger who touched the wall in 4:07.42. 400-Yard IM Interview

Nathan Early set history in the 200-yard freestyle when he became just the second swimmer in SCAC history to win the event three times. The senior clocked a championship time of 1:38.30, which set a new meet record and earned an NCAA 'B' cut time. Colorado College's Jack Hussin also notched a 'B' cut time while finishing second in 1:39.14. Placing third was Trinity's Nate Perez who clocked a time of 1:41.26. 200-Yard Freestyle Interview

Colorado College's Collin Ralston made program history when he won the 100-yard breaststroke with a SCAC championship record and NCAA 'B' cut time of 55.02 seconds. He became the first CC swimmer to win this event twice. Trinity's Kendal Southwell was second in a 'B' cut time of 55.32 seconds while Jorge Mendiola of Southwestern was third in 56.48 seconds. 100-Yard Breast Interview

In the final reace of the evening, Colorado College took the top two spots in the 100-yard backstroke as Caleb Peimann earned his first SCAC title and fifth All-SCAC performance when he touched the wall first in 50.85 seconds, and teammate Dax Sherwood was just behind, tallying a time of 51.69 seconds. Finishing third was Owen Flynn of Trinity, who touched the wall in 52.30 seconds. 100-Yard Back Interview
