NATHAN PEREZ OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year from Alpharetta, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Monday, October 30 to Sunday, November 5. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 4)
Perez posted five individual wins in this weekend's two dual meets against St. Thomas. On Friday night, he was first to the wall in the 500 free (4:54.67), 200 fly (1:57.08), and 200 IM (2:01.07). He followed that up with individual victories in the 200 free (1:44.49) and 50 fly (23.95) on Saturday. Nate also led off the winning mixed 400 freestyle relay in 47.97.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Alex Lai of Austin College had four solid swims against Southwestern on Saturday. Lai swam a 1:03.63 01 in his breaststroke for the 'Roos' 400 medley relay team and also posted indivudla swims of 56.7 in the 100 fly, 1:05.09 in the 100 breast; and 2:13.62 in the 200 IM. Junior Ethan Spillers of University of the Ozarks won the 200 breast (2:25.76), the 200 IM (2:10.91), 400 IM (4:44.76), and 100 breast (1:06.53) in the team's home dual against McMurry. First-year Nick Freeman of Southwestern took home gold in three events in Saturday's dual against Austin College, touching first in the 1000 free (10:15.60), 100 yard back (57.20) and 200 IM (2:04.42). Sophomore Jack Hussin of Colorado College won the 200 free in a season-best time of 1:44.96 in the Tigers' meet against D2 Colorado School of Mines. He was also second in the 100 free.
