JOSEPH KURI OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 26th through Sunday, October 2nd. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 5)
 
Kuri recorded his first career hat trick to help Trinity defeat Southwestern 3-1 to lift the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 start in SCAC play and secure six points in the opening week of conference play. Kuri took seven shots on the weekend with five of those being on goal. The midfielder now has five goals and one assist on the year.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore midfielder Alex Meyerhoff of Colorado College scored twice, finding the back of the net in both Tiger fixtures last weekend, to help secure four points during the opening week of SCAC play. Meyerhoff scored the lone goal for CC in a 1-1 draw against St. Thomas on Friday before returning to get game-winning tally in a 3-0 win over Centenary on Sunday. Junior forward Ian Alvarez of St. Thomas scored the Celts lone goal last week in a 1-1 draw on the road at Colorado College to open up SCAC play. Senior forward Luis Green of Texas Lutheran scored four goals over the weekend, including a hat trick in the Bulldogs 5-0 win over Schreiner. Green now leads the SCAC in goals scored for the season and is now tied for second all-time in conference history with 72 total goals.
