NATHAN EARLY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Monday, October 11 to Sunday, October 17. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 1)
Early made a splash in the opening meet of the 2021-22 season, hitting the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:41.79, winning the event by more than five seconds. The sophomore also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 48.36 and swam the opening leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay with a split of 21.52. Early helped the Tiger earn a dual meet victory over Southwestern, 202-59.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Matthew Schloz of McMurry was a double winner in the opening meet of the season, leading the War Hawks to 163-91 dual meet victory over Austin College. Schloz won the 1,000-yard free in a time of 11:15.83 and also hit the wall first in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:26.32. Junior Sam Anderson of Southwestern won the 100-IM in a time of 54.7 and finished second in both the 50-free (22.5) and 100-breast (1:00.9) in the Trinity dual meet to open the season for the Pirates.
