Trinity Takes Early Lead In Race For 2022-23 SCAC Presidents' Trophy

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Highlighted by its conference championships in women's soccer, Trinity University has established an early lead in the race for the 2022-23 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Presidents' Trophy. Fall Results

Trinity's championship in women's soccer represented the 26th for the program, equaling the number won by Trinity men's tennis and tying for the most by any one program in SCAC history. The TU Tigers also earned runner-up finishes in both men's and women's cross country at those respective championships before settling for a second-place finish at the SCAC men's soccer championship a week later. The Trinity volleyball team, which advanced to the Division III national championshp match, was upset in the conference tournament semifinals and earned a tie for third place at that championship.

At the completion of fall championship play, the TU Tigers have accumulated 177.5 total points in the all-sports standings and sit 27.5 points clear of Texas Lutheran University, who has 150 points. The Bulldogs had their most productive fall since joining the SCAC in 2013-14, winning their first ever conference championship in volleyball, earning a runner-up finish in women's soccer and taking third place in women's cross country.

Colorado College, on the heels of sweeping both the men's and women's cross country titles for the second consecutive year, is in third place with 147.5 points.

Trinity has won the last 11 SCAC Presidents' Trophies and has claimed the bell signifying conference supremacy 22 times overall. Both of those marks (consecutive and all-time wins) represent the current record in a league that has been recognizing an all-sports champion every year since 1962.
