SERENA GONZALEZ OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a first year utility from Corpus Christi, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 3 through Sunday, April 9. SCAC Softball Release - Week 9

Gonzalez continued her stellar campaign at the plate blasting two home runs in the three-game series against Southwestern while maintaining a .714 batting average. Gonzalez drove in eight runs in the three-game sweep over the Pirates, including five in the series finale - boosted by a grand slam. Gonzalez leads the SCAC with eight home runs and is one shy of the freshman record held by Haley Padilla. For the week Gonzalez finished 5-for-7 at the plate with three extra base hits, four walks, two runs scored and eight RBI. She finished with 12 total bases, an impressive .818 on-base percentage and an astounding 1.714 slugging percentage.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Kaylea Patridge of Centenary had a big weekend for the Ladies as she helped lead them to a series sweep over Dallas on the road. She went 9-15 (.600) with four RBI, four runs scored, a triple a double, and three stolen bases. She also had two hits and scored a run in a DH at Howard Payne on April 4. Senior outfielder Danielle Pedraza of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to an SCAC sweep over Austin College. Pedraza hit a blistering .727 going 8-for-11 with 10 RBI, including an SCAC record eight in the opener, breaking the previous record of seven that had been accomplished 17 pervious times, most recently in 2018. Sophomore third baseman Jaelyn Simmons of St. Thomas led the Celts to another series win last weekend, knocking off Trinity in a pair of SCAC contests. Simmons finished with a .600 batting average, going 3-for-5 with a double and a home run. She scored four runs, knocked in five runs and stole a base. Junior first basemen/outfielder Jordyn Williams of Trinity went 4-for-6 with one run and two RBI as Trinity suffered a pair of narrow losses on the road against the University of St. Thomas this weekend.
