KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 11th annual Team Academic Excellence Awards last week and four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs were recognized. Full Release
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2022-23 season.
The SCAC was represented by Colorado College, Schreiner University, Southwestern University and Trinity University. Trinity has earned the distinction in all 11 years since the award was established in 2012-13, while Southwestern earned the accolade for the third-straight season and 10th time in program history. Colorado College was honored for the eighth time in program history and Schreiner is receiving the accolades for the second-straight season.
Additionally, a record 36 SCAC individuals, including eight from Schreiner, eight from Southwestern, six from Trinity and three from Colorado earned NABC Honors Court accolades.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s basketball student-athletes who competed during the 2022-23 season.
