ERIC LIAO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Taipei, Taiwan, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 6 through Sunday, March 12. SCAC Men's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 6
Liao led the 11th-ranked Tigers to a 1-1 record against two nationally-ranked opponents at the Stag-Hen Invitational. Liao earned singles wins in both matches against No. 17 Gustavus Adolphus and No. 18 Pomona-Pitzer. He began with a 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 comeback victory at line four against Gustavus, which tied the match 2-2 at the time. In Sunday's win over Pomona, Liao scored the clincher with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-0 win at line three.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Bernie Clemente of Southwestern posted a 2-1 record at No. 1 singles, including a victory over Rishil Kondapanen of 23rd-ranked Kenyon, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3, to clinch a 5-4 victory for the Pirates. Senior Carson Kirk of Schreiner went 3-1 over the week for the Mountaineers, picking up victories at the top line over players from Piedmont, Immaculata and Hampden Sydney.
