CAELEE CLARK OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a first-year infielder from Montgomery, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 6 through Sunday, March 12. SCAC Softball Release - Week 5
Clark set the tone last week from her leadoff spot in the Bulldog lineup, leading TLU to a perfect 5-0 mark with a twin bill sweep over non-conference foe Piedmont and an unblemished 3-0 record against Schreiner to open SCAC play. She hit a blistering .714, going 10-for-14, including a remarkable 8-for-10 (.800) in the series against the Mountaineers. She recorded a hit in all five contests, with three multiple hit efforts, highlighted by her four hits in the series finale against Schreiner. Additionally, Clark stole 11 bases, swiping a bag in every game and posted multiple stolen bases in four of the five contests. In total, Clark finished with 11 stolen bases, 10 hits, six runs scored, four RBI, three walks and posted a remarkable .765 on-base percentage without striking out once.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year catcher/infielder Mariah Hinojosa of Dallas was phenomenal for the Crusaders in a non-conference sweep of Dallas Christian. In two games, Hinojosa hit .833, going 5-for-6 with a double and three RBI. In addition, she scored three runs, stole four bases, and walked twice to post a .875 on-base percentage. Senior catcher Hannah Kollmansberger of Schreiner led the Mountaineers at the plate last week, going 4-for-10 to post a .400 batting average. Sophomore middle infielder Lindsey Gonzalez of St. Thomas was outstanding last week, hitting a remarkable .583, going 7-for-12 from the plate in leading the Celts to a 3-1 record in non-conference action. Gonzalez finished with seven RBI, four runs scored, four stolen bases, two walks and a .643 on-base percentage. Sophomore infielder Peyton Bowser of Trinity went 2-for-3 (.667) with a walk in the Tigers’ doubleheader against Piedmont last week.
