KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the ninth annual Team Academic Excellence Awards last week and two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs were recognized. Full Release
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2020-21 season.
The SCAC was represented by the Southwestern University and Trinity University. Trinity has earned the distinction in all nine years since the award was established in 2012-13, while Southwestern earned the accolade for the eighth time in program history.
Earlier this week, 16 SCAC individuals, including nine from Southwestern and Trinity earned NABC Honors Court accolades.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s basketball student-athletes who competed during the 2020-21 season.
