JAELYN SIMMONS OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a sophomore third baseman from Cypress, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 20 through Sunday, March 26. SCAC Softball Release - Week 7

Simmons had a monster week at the plate for the Celts, leading St. Thomas to a three-game sweep over SCAC foe Austin College. She hit a blistering .778, going 7-for-9 with three doubles and three multi hit performances, highlighted by three hits in game two of the series. Simmons scored seven runs and drove in two to go along with two steals. She walked twice to post an impressive .818 on-base percentage and slugged a remarkable 1.111.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outfielder Mackenzie Cox of Centenary hit .500 (4-for-8) in the Ladies' three-game weekend series at home against No. 4 Texas Lutheran with a pair of walks and three RBI. She delivered a bases-clearing 3-RBI double to tie the game in the bottom of the second, helping the Ladies to a monumental 7-6 win on Saturday in game one of a DH. It was the Ladies' biggest victory in the division III era (2012-present), which handed the Bulldogs their first conference loss since March 2, 2019 against Southwestern. The Ladies had only beaten the Bulldogs twice in 33 all-time meetings (two wins in 1990) before Saturday. Senior outfielder Danielle Pedraza of Schreiner led the Mountaineers at the plate during the three-game series against Trinity last weekend. Pedraza batted .538, going 7-for-13 with five RBI and four extra base hits, including a home run. She scored six runs, stole a pair of bases and finished the weekend with a 1.000 slugging percentage. Freshman utility player Calle Collier of Southwestern led the Pirates to an SCAC sweep over Dallas last weekend, batting .625 (5-for-8) with three runs scored and two RBI. She hit safely in all three contests, including a pair of multi hit efforts.  Senior infielder Laura Hernandez of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a 4-1 week behind a .588 average, going 10-for-17 with four extra base hits, including a two-run home run against UMHB. She hit safely in all five games, including back-to-back three hit performances to help lift TLU to a SCAC series win over Centenary. Junior catcher Dawson Dabboussi of Trinity led the Tigers to a weekend series win in SCAC play, defeating Schreiner 14-9 and 10-9 to close the series. Dabboussi hit .556 (5-for-9) for the weekend with six RBI and a run scored. After going 0-for-1 in the series-opening loss, Dabboussi went 3-for-5 with four RBI in the second game of the doubleheader. Her three-run double in the eighth inning, sparked a five-run inning as the Tigers were able to split the Saturday games. Dabboussi came back with two hits and two RBI in the series finale on Sunday.
