MICHAEL MEESE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman forward from Williamsburg, Va., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, September 12th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 2)
Meese tallied five points last weekend to lead Trinity to a pair of victories and improve to 4-0 on the Season. Meese scored a pair of goals and extended his scoring streak to four games. He scored the equalizing goal against Hardin-Simmons to help the Tigers win 2-1 on Friday and then he turned around and scored the game-winning goal on Sunday to lift Trinity over UT-Dallas, 1-0. Meese is now tied for the SCAC lead in goals (4), assists (2) and lead the conference in total points with 10 though four games.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender Diego Hernandez of Centenary showed his offensive skills last weekend scoring a pair of goals to lead the Gents to wins over Ozarks and Huntingdon. He registered a goal in each game, including the game-winner in a 2-1 win against the Hawks. Freshman forward Gabe Kellman of Colorado College struck for his first career goal and set up another in the Tigers’, 6-2, loss last Sunday against Macalester. Senior midfielder Alex Trandai of Schreiner score his first goal of the season in a 1-1 tie last week against Howard Payne. It was the first result of the season for the Mountaineers. Sophomore forward Carr Panetta of Southwestern scored the game-winning goal against Hardin-Simmons with a header to the back of the net at the 73-minute mark. Senior forward Nicolas Medina of Texas Lutheran was outstanding in the lone game last week for the Bulldogs. Medina registered two goals and added an assist in a 4-0 win over Howard Payne.
