SHERMAN, Texas. -- With Saturday's semifinal round complete, chalk held as top-seeded University of St. Thomas and second-seeded Trinity University are left standing and will play Sunday for the 2022 SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament title. Official Tournament Website | Men's Tournament Stats
This year's championship match is a repeat from last year's title game when St. Thomas defeated Trinity 80-66 in San Antonio.
With today's win, Trinity has clinched the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as St. Thomas, in its final year of NCAA Division III provisional membership, is not yet eligible for the national postseason play. Under such circumstances, the league's highest seeded team entering the tournament who is eligible for the NCAA tournament receives the automatic bid and as the No. 2 seed, the Tigers have already punched their ticket to the postseason.
