EMMA FUNK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior middle blocker from Pass Christian, Miss., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 11 through Sunday, October 17. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 7)

Funk set a new career-high with nine blocks in the No. 3 Tigers' sixth victory over a nationally-ranked opponent this season, a five-set barn-burner with No. 16 Southwestern at the weekend's SCAC finale on the Pirates' home floor. Funk averaged 1.82 blocks per set (20 total) over the weekend's four victories to improve the Tigers to a 10-0 start to conference play. Her efforts in the middle led Trinity to stifle all opponents to a combined .103 hitting percentage and under 10 kills per set. 

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle hitter Georgia Mullins of Colorado College was named MVP of the 2021 CC Invitational after dominating on both sides of the net during the Tigers' four victories. For the weekend, she averaged 4.26 kills, 2.86 digs, 1.64 blocks, and a whopping 5.61 points per set. In the marquis match against No. 20 UC Santa Cruz, Mullins flirted with a triple-double finishing with 21 kills, a career-high 15 digs and seven total blocks, which matched her career best. In the final match of the weekend, a sweep of Cornell College, Mullins posted has second double-double of the weekend and the third of her career with 14 kills, 10 digs and six total blocks. With 23 total blocks during the four matches, Mullins climbed to 11th place with 228 career block assists and 16th with 271 total blocks. Senior libero Lexi Morris of Texas Lutheran added 62 digs to her conference-leading tally in two non-conference matches. Morris' 48-dig performance against UMHB was not only a career high, but now ranks second all-time in TLU Volleyball history in digs in a match and is tied for the third-most in a five set match in league history. Senior defensive specialist/libero Ali Grona of Southwestern had 77 digs through 14 sets, averaging 5.50 digs per set, to help lead the Pirates to a .221 to .116 advantage in hitting percentage over the team's four weekend matches. Sophomore setter Mia Moreno of Schreiner had some great performances over the weekend as the Mountaineers picked up two wins against conference opposition. Moreno finished the weekend with 125 assists, 39 digs, and five service aces.
