Havel finished the weekend with 14 total blocks, averaging 1.27 blocks per set, as St. Thomas posted a perfect 3-0 mark at the Hendrix (Ark.) College Invitational. She had a game-high eight blocks, including five solo, in the Celts' 3-2 victory over the host Warriors. She was named to the all-Tournament team for her efforts.
For the season, Havel is leading the SCAC in blocks, averaging 1.38 per set.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
First-year middle hitter Brianna Barch of Austin College was dominant at the net in three matches played last weekend, helping the 'Roos go 3-1 in Memphis at the Rhodes College Classic. The freshman totaled 12 blocks, including eight total blocks in a match against Westminster (Mo.). She finished the week averaging 1.09 blocks-per-set. Senior middle hitter Georgia Mullins of Colorado College was the most dominant player on both sides of the net while earning MVP honors at the 2021 Spike It Up Classic. Defensively, Mullins averaged 1.08 blocks and digs per set as the Tigers held their opponents to a combined .032 team hitting percentage. She tied her season high of five total blocks against Belhaven when CC held the Blazers to a -.034 percentage, and had three against Moravian who hit just .011, which was third consecutive match and the fourth time this season an opponent hit under .100 against CC. The Tigers now have won 24 of 25 sets, including the last 19. Junior libero Nadia Kern of Trinity paced the Tigers in their back-row efforts in last weekend's East to West Battle at Cal Lutheran, featuring competition against No. 2 Emory University and No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, as she notched a team-high 4.10 digs per set (41 digs total) while also notching four of her six service aces on the weekend in the Tigers' statement straight-sets victory over the second-ranked Eagles. Senior libero/outside hitter Lexi Morris of Texas Lutheran averaged 5.60 digs per set as TLU posted a 4-0 mark at the Rhodes College Classic. She had a match-high 31 digs in the team's thrilling, 3-2, five-set victory over the host school Rhodes. Senior defensive specialist/libero Ali Grona of Southwestern led the Pirates with 65 digs through 10 sets for an average of 6.50 digs per set. She saved her best performance for last, posting 28 digs in the Pirates' 3-1 win over Carnegie Mellon for a 7.00 digs per set average.
