Sara Flynn, Trinity University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 6)

SARA FLYNN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior right side from Seattle, Wash., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 4 through Sunday, October 10. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 6)

Flynn stepped up her presence on the block for the No. 3 Tigers to pick up the team's fourth and fifth victories over nationally-ranked competition in last weekend's voyage to Boston. She tied a career-high with seven blocks in Trinity's 3-1 victory over No. 22 Babson College, which led to 21 blocks for the trip (1.24 per set).

All four of Trinity's opponents on the weekend were ranked in the top 35 in the nation in hitting percentage and behind Flynn's impressive performance, each were held well below their season averages. The four hit a combined .148 over 17 total sets, including Babson, which had come into Friday's contest ranked 16th in the nation at .256. Against Trinity, the Beavers were held to a season-low .014 attack percentage as the Tigers snapped the Beavers' 34-match home winning streak against non-conference opponents that dated back to October 3, 2015.

Senior libero/outside hitter Lexi Morris of Texas Lutheran extended her SCAC lead in the category with 67 digs over the weekend. Senior libero Mari Prazak of Austin College reached a career milestone last week, notching her 2,000th dig in a win over Centenary to wrap up the weekend.
