Joey Finley, Trinity University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 4)

JOEY FINLEY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore goalkeeper from Albuquerque, N.M., has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, September 26th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 4)

In her only game of the week, Finley recorded a shutout in a double overtime, 0-0, draw against Stevens last Friday for the Tigers. She recorded a season-high seven saves in securing her second shutout of the season for Trinity.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Sierra Blackwell of Schreiner started and played all 90 minutes, anchoring the backline in a tough 3-1 loss to Arlington Baptist. Freshman defender Lilly Van Meter of Southwestern anchored a defense that carried the Pirates to a pair of non-conference conference victories last week, including a shutout. Van Meter was everywhere on the field, breaking up opportunities, and chipped in offensively with an assist in a 2-0 win over Centenary. Freshman goalkeeper Charleigh Phipps of Texas Lutheran didn’t allow a goal playing a half in both Bulldog fixtures last week, including a 1-0 combined shutout win over Centenary.
