BRIANA SALINAS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a junior goalkeeper from Fort Worth, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, September 19th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 3)
Salinas posted her best performance of the season as St. Thomas earned its first result of the year in a 0-0 double overtime draw with East Texas Baptist last Friday. In just her second start of the year, Salinas corralled a season-high nine saves in 110 minutes of action, as St. Thomas posted its first shutout of the 2021 campaign.
Freshman defender Kourtney Rosales of Schreiner came off the bench to provide a spark for the Mountaineer defense, that despite a pair of losses played its best defensive game of the season last Saturday against Belhaven. Sophomore defender Kyra Stafford of Trinity led a backline that only allowed three shots with one being on target in a dominating 6-0 win over Howard Payne in the Tigers only fixture last week.
