WILL SALONY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year runner from Dallas, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 28 through Sunday, March 6. (SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 1)
Salony won the 1500 at the Trinity Invitational with a personal best of 3:55.79. This is third all time in school history. He also ran the opening leg of the Trinity “D” 4x400 team that took 10th place.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Eduardo Waller of St. Thomas took third place overall in the 400m at the Trinity Invite in a time of 49.33. First-year Brian Armijo of Southwestern finished second in the 5000-meter race with a time of 15:57.23. He was the only athlete from a non-scholarship program to finish in the top three. First-year Manny Coya of Schreiner set a new school record (52.56) in the 400 meters. Sophomore Devlin Swanson of Colorado College ran a personal best 5k time of 15:41.91 at the Ed Boitano Invite.
