JOY AREOLA OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. (SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 4)
Areola jumped two new personal bests at the TLU D3 Challenge, placing first in the triple jump with a 11.39m jump and second in the long jump with a jump of 5.54m. Those marks are first and second, respectively in the conference, and rank her second and sixth nationally.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Tiamara Hill-Johnson of Southwestern defended her DIII Challenge title in the discus, winning the event with a distance of 39.76 meters. First-year Kaycie Willis of Dallas recorded a PR mark of 11.01 meters at the Southern Arkansas University Dan Veach Invitational. She placed fifth out of 12 competitors that consisted of NCAA DII and NAIA competitors.Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
