KAYCIE WILLIS OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a sophomore from Selma, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 7 through Sunday, March 13. (SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 2)
Willis placed seventh out of 17 in a field of mostly NCAA D1 and NAIA opponents in the shot put on Saturday with a mark of 10.47 meters. This gives her the third-best mark in the SCAC and the 25th-best mark in the nation. Meanwhile, she also placed seventh out of 17 athletes in the same meet in the discus event with a toss of 29.21 meters.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Mabel Gardner of Colorado College cleared a height of 2.98m in the pole vault at the Oxy Distance Classic and Springs Break Classic on Saturday - a mark that is currently tied for first in the conference.
