KAITY WARD OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Phoenix, Ariz., has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 14th.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Maddie Rodriguez of Dallas scored the game-winning goal for the Crusaders in a 1-0 victory at Centenary on Saturday. It was the first of the year for Rodriguez and came in the 49th minute of the match. The win was the first for the Crusaders at Mayo Field since 2014 and handed the Ladies their first loss of the season in seven outings. Sophomore forward Alexis Guajardo of Southwestern scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates against Austin College last Saturday. She dribbled the ball all the way from centerfield to the Roo's goal box and took one shot that the goalie blocked, but Guajardo followed her shot and took advantage of the ball, bouncing off the goal to give her a second shot that would end in a goal. Junior forward Samantha Martinez of Texas Lutheran scored the winning goal in last Friday’s 1-0 home win over St. Thomas. She scored in the 85th minute. Martinez scored on her lone shot of the day.
