MARCO JONSSON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year runner from Sugar Land, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Monday, October 4 through Sunday, October 10. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 6)
Jonsson led the Tigers for the first time in his career in Saturday's Our Lady of the Lake University Invitational as he posted a 19th-place overall finish amongst a field that included NCAA I and II competition. The Tiger rookie's time of 26:13.0 led all NCAA III participants and continued a streak of notable PRs in each of his collegiate races.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Marco Hernandez of Schreiner led the Mountaineers at the OLLU Invitational, finishing with an 8k time of 27:05 which set a new school record. Junior Thomas Lagarde of Dallas placed 14th out of 63 competitors with a seasonal PR time of 27:33.2 while competing against NAIA, NCAA DII and NJCAA DI programs at the Midwestern State Open. He missed his personal PR by 5 seconds, which he previously set in 2019.
