JACOB MASON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Westminster, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Monday, September 9 through Tuesday, September 17. SCAC Golf Release (Week 1)

Mason earned medalist honors at the SCAC Fall Preview, shooting an even-par round 72 on Tuesday at The New Course at White Bluff Resort to pull ahead for the victory. Mason, an All-American last year, was two shots behind in a tie for third place after Monday's opening round, but four birdies and an eagle on Tuesday helped him finish with a one-under total score of 143.

The only player to finish under par, Mason was also the tournament leader with 11 birdies over the 36-hole event and helped lead Trinity to the team title by a commanding 13 shots.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Hueiseung Kim of Dallas, led the Crusaders at the SCAC Fall Preview, shooting a two day total of 146 (71-75) to finish tied for second among the 60-player field. He had finished 35th the week prior at the LeTourneau/Tempest Invitational. Sophomore Antonio Ramirez of St. Thomas fired rounds of 74 and 73 to lead the Celts and finish the SCAC Fall Preview at 147 (+3) and tied for fourth place individually. He had the second-most birdies for the tournament with 10. Senior Bryce Stiemert of Southwestern tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard, posting rounds of 72 and 75 for a two-day total of 147 (+3) as he paced the Pirates and led his squad to a runner-up team finish. Senior Tobey Wills of Texas Lutheran was top dog for TLU, leading the Bulldogs at the SCAC Fall Preview with a 4-over par finish of 148. Wills was the model of consistencey, firing back-to-back rounds of 74. Senior Andrew Bennett of Centenary, last year's SCAC Golfer-of-the-Year, charted rounds of 71 and 77 to finish at 148 (+4) and a tie for sixth at the SCAC Fall Preview. Playing in his first-ever collegiate event, freshman Tripten Roberts of McMurry led the War Hawks with rounds of 77 and 75 (152, +8) to finish tied for 11th on the SCAC Fall Preview individual leaderboard. His 13 place jump up the leaderboard on Tuesday was the third-biggest move of the day. Junior Parker Smith of Concordia (Texas), along with his teammate first-year Kaden English, paced the Tornados with two-day totals of 153 (+9) to finish tied for 13th at the SCAC Fall Preview. Smith led his squad with seven birdies, tied for fifth-best among the field. Junior Colin Perez of Schreiner, along with teammate Mauricio Gamez, finished with a two-day total of 155 (+11), good for a tie for 18th at the SCAC Fall Preview. Perez, a member of the Mountaineers' conference championship squad, returned to the scene of his team's victory from a year ago and posted rounds of 78 and 77.
