NATHAN PEREZ OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Alpharetta, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Friday, January 10 to Sunday, January 12. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 9)
Perez had two wins and two second place finishes at the Austin College Invite on Saturday. He topped the 100 freestyle in 48.84, before swimming a second faster to anchor the winning 400 freestyle relay. Perez was also second in the 50 free (22.51) and 100 fly (53.53).
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Colin Stewart of Austin College swam many season-bests on Saturday at the Austin College Invite. He placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.97, and in the 400 medley relay (100 breast), his split was 1:05.78. Stewart's split time of 51.39 in the 400 free relay helped him lead the 'Roos in scoring with 17 points overall. Sophomore Oscar Mayorga of St. Thomas delivered an outstanding performance in the 500-yard free, earning recognition for his ability to rise to the occasion against strong competition. Facing swimmers from bigger programs, Mayorga showcased resilience and strategy, surging from behind in the final laps to claim the win.
