KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 12th annual Team Academic Excellence Awards on Monday and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs were recognized. Full Release
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2023-24 season.
The SCAC was represented by Colorado College, Schreiner University Southwestern University and Trinity University. Trinity has earned the distinction in all 12 years since the award was established in 2012-13, while Southwestern earned the accolade for the fourth-straight season and 11th time in program history. Colorado College was honored for the second-straight year and ninth time in program history, while Schreiner is eanring the honor for the third-consecutive year.
This year marks the third-straight season and ninth in the last ten the SCAC has seen three or more teams earn NABC Team Academic Excellence honors.
Additionally, a record 37 SCAC individuals, including 10 from Colorado College, eight from Schreiner, seven from Trinity and five from Southwestern earned NABC Honors Court accolades.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s basketball student-athletes who competed during the 2023-24 season.
