Rodriguez had an outstanding weekend for the #6 Tigers at the East-West Battle over the weekend. She began with a 39-dig performance against Cal Lutheran, snapping a Trinity single-match record that was set in 1992. Rodriguez tallied 75 total digs in just three matches, averaging 5.36 digs/set over the weekend (season average is 4.33/set).
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Junior defensive specialist/libero Geneva Nedrow of Southwestern tallied 52 digs (4.73 per set) in three games this week including a standout performance in the last game of the weekend against a 7-0 Puget Sound team. Nedrow negated the Logger offense with 27 digs adding four service aces to the offense. Over the course of three games, Nedrow put up eight aces from the service line and totaled five assists. Junior defensive specialist Kara Spice of St. Thomas had 90 total digs (4.74 per set) as the Celts went 3-2 across five matches over the week. She also had an offensive showing with four service aces. First-year libero Laynie Kovacs of Austin College had a big weekend as the 'Roos played four matches in Memphis at the Rhodes College Classic, going 3-1 overall as a team. Kovacs had three matches with double-digit digs, including 36 in a five-set match against Mary Hardin-Baylor. She also had 16 digs against Rhodes and 15 against Lyon on her way to being named to the All-Tournament Team.
