KYLIE HARRIS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year defender from Missouri City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 21st through Sunday, October 27th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 9)

Harris was a key defensive piece in Trinity's wins over Schreiner and St. Thomas last weekend. Totaling 156 minutes on the pitch, Harris anchored a defense that only allowed three total shots (just two on target) in two games and recorded their 12th and 13th shutouts of the season. Harris and the Tigers now have a 0.33 goals against average and are only allowing 6.1 shots per game.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior goalkeeper Kendie Lane of Austin College earned her eight shutout of the season with a 0-0 draw at McMurry, shutting out a War Hawks side that has been one of the top scoring teams in the conference throughout the 2024 season. Lane finished the weekend with seven saves in two matches. Sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Keller of Centenary played all 180 minutes in net last weekend for the Ladies, making 25 saves, highlighted by a season-high 13 against Texas Lutheran on the road on Sunday.  Senior defender Kaelyn Riley of Concordia led the Tornados to their third and fourth-straight shutout in SCAC play, securing six key point in the league table heading into the final weekend of regular season play. Riley anchored a defensive effort that allowed just four shots on target against Austin College and Dallas and got involved offensively, registering an assist in the win over the ‘Roos. Sophomore defender Brooklyn Groove of McMurry led a defensive effort for the War Hawks that allowed just eight shots en route to posting a 1-0-1 record last weekend, securing four big points in the race for the SCAC Tournament. Grove and the War Hawk defense posted their third shutout in conference play in a scoreless draw against Austin College on Sunday. First-year Katelyn Boyd of Schreiner led a defensive effort that lifted the Mountaineers to their second SCAC win in the last three contests, defeating St. Thomas 3-1 on Sunday. Boyd and the Mountaineers to just seven shots on goal in the win. Junior defender Kayla Moody of Southwestern anchored a Pirate defensive effort that helped secure two wins, highlighted by posting their fifth shutout of the season in league play with a 3-0 win over Centenary. Moody also got involved offensively, scoring her first goal of the season in the win over the Ladies. Junior defender Ashlyn Suarez of Texas Lutheran commanded the TLU backline strongly in both wins last week at Ozarks and against Centenary to stay in strong contention to qualify for the conference tournament going into the final weekend of regular season action. Suarez and the Bulldog defense posted their fourth SCAC shutout in the win over the Ladies and in the win over the Eagles, Suarez jumped in offensively to score her second goal of the season.
