KAELYN RILEY OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEXAS), a senior defender from Southlake, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 14th through Sunday, October 20th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 8)

Riley was tremendous last week, leading a Concordia defense that post back-to-back shutout road victories over Centenary (2-0) on Friday and Ozarks (4-0) on Sunday. The Tornados and Riley limited opponents to just two shots the entire weekend, posting their third and fourth shutouts of the season and their second and third in conference play. Riley and the Tornados’ defensive effort help secure six crucial points in the league standings, vaulting Concordia to a tie for third with two week remaining in the regular season.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Sophomore midfielder Emma Boehmke of Austin College had a stellar weekend from her defensive midfield position, helping the 'Roos go 1-1 with a shutout win against Schreiner and a narrow 2-1 loss to Trinity. Boehmke scored the game-winner against the Mountaineers, and later added the assist on Austin College's insurance goal in the 2-0 victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Avery Anders of McMurry didn’t allow a single goal in over 117 minutes of action last weekend over tow fixtures to lead the War Hawks to a pair of key SCAC wins on the road against Ozarks and Centenary. Anders finished with one save and a perfect 1.000 save percentage. First year goalkeeper Jayden Ford of Schreiner made a pair of saves to help the Mountaineers post their second shutout of the season and securing a 1-0 win over Dallas on the road on Sunday. In total, Ford finished the week with seven saves and a .778 save percentage. Junior defender Clara Richards of Trinity was a key factor on both sides of the ball in the Tigers’ two road wins last weekend. Against Dallas, Richards helped anchor a defense that only allowed two shots all game and record a shutout and then against Austin College, Clara put in the crucial game winning goal to secure the victory for the Tigers.
