Sophomore goalkeeper Kaniyah Hill of Centenary made her Ladies' and collegiate debut after not playing last season due to an injury in the season opener on Sunday at ETBU. She played all 90 minutes and made eight saves in the 3-0 loss. Senior defender McKenna Standifer of McMurry led a War Hawks defense that recorded a shutout in the opening fixture of the season, defeating Lyon 7-0. In the opener, Standifer and the rest of the McMurry defense limited Lyon to just three shots and she jumped in offensively as well, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Senior goalkeeper Melanie Glossup of Ozarks recorded two saves in goal as the Eagles recorded a shutout in a 7-0 win over Central Baptist last Friday night, under the lights. Sophomore goalkeeper Kylie Soich of St. Thomas opened the 2024 season with nine total saves and an .818 save percentage to help the Celts post a 1-1 record, including a 2-1 win over Millsaps last Sunday. Junior defender Ilsa Newland of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of shutouts to start the season, earning a draw against Occidental on Saturday, and a 3-0 win over Hardin-Simmons on Sunday night. Newland and the Tiger defense allowed just one shot in Saturday's season opener, holding Occidental out of shooting range for most of the game. She also led a unit that gave up just two on-target shots against HSU on Sunday, securing the second shutout of the weekend .
