KYLIE HARRIS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first year defender from Missouri City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 30th through Sunday, October 6th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 6)

Harris led the Tiger women's soccer team to a pair of SCAC shutout victories over the weekend, defeating McMurry at home and picking up a road win over Concordia (TX). Harris and the Trinity defense recorded a pair of shutouts, while she also had a goal and an assist in the 3-0 home win over McMurry. She led the team to its seventh and eighth shutouts in nine games this year, scoring her first career goal and first career assist.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior defender Kaelyn Riley of Concordia lifted the Tornados to their first SCAC win in program history, posting a shutout, defeating Schreiner, 5-0 on Friday. Riley and the Tornado defense allowed just eight shots on target in two games last week and the shutout against the Mountaineers was their second of the season. First year midfielder Cienna Rodriguez of McMurry was outstanding defensively in helping lift the War Hawks to their first SCAC victory in program history. Rodriguez and the McMurry defense limited Schreiner to just two shots en route to posting their fifth shutout of the year and first in SCAC action. Junior defender Lauren Powell of Southwestern helped the Pirates jump out to a 2-0 start in SCAC play for the third time in the last four years, including a shutout in a 2-0 win over previously unbeaten Austin College. Powell and the Pirates limited the ‘Roos to just five shots on target in posting the third shutout of the year and in total limited opponents to just nine total shots on target in two fixtures. Sophomore goalkeeper Kylie Soich of St. Thomas made four saves in helping the Celts post their second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Centenary last Friday. Soich is currently third best in the SCAC with a 0.73 GAA. Junior defender Ashlyn Suarez of Texas Lutheran was a steady presence all weekend along the backline for the Bulldogs in leading TLU to a pair of SCAC victories over Dallas on the road and at home against Austin College. Playing 123 minutes, including all 90 in a shutout over the ‘Roos, TLU didn’t allow a single goal while Suarez was on the pitch and help limit opponents to just three shots on target in two games. In addition to her defensive prowess, Suarez also chipped in offensively scoring the game-winning goal in the win over Austin College.
