Willyard led a Trinity defense that recorded two shutouts in a pair of wins last week, defeating Texas-Dallas, 1-0, and Howard Payne, 7-0, at home. The Tiger defense, anchored by Willyard allowed just five shots over the two fixtures, including just two shots on target. Trinity and Willyard has now opened the season with five straight shutouts, allowing just 25 total shots and seven on goal.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

First year defender Bailey McCreary of Austin College as the 'Roos continued the best start in program history by remaining unbeaten through seven matches. McCreary was an anchor for a 'Roo defense that allowed zero goals, consistently breaking up scoring chances for both Wiley and Hendrix while playing nearly the entirety of both games. McCreary consistently won balls in the air and stymied the opposing teams' forwards both on set pieces and offensive build-ups and limited both opponents to just 17 total shots and nine on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Keller of Centenary made her first-career start in goal for the Ladies on Sunday in their 3-3 draw against Huntingdon College on the road and went the distance, recording eight saves in her 90 minutes. She also made her debut on Saturday at LaGrange and made two saves in her 25:05 of action. Junior defender Kit Gibbons of Dallas anchored a Crusader defense that posted its first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over LeTourneau. Gibbons and the Dallas defense limited LeTourneau to just seven shots. Junior defender Katie Wilson of McMurry anchored a War Hawk defense that produced a pair of shutouts in wins over Howard Payne and Wayland Baptist last week. Wilson and the McMurry defense limited their two opponents to just 20 total shots and just eight on target in the two wins. Sophomore midfielder Abigail Scott of Schreiner was a force in the center of the park last week, controlling the midfield and anchoring the Mountaineers defensive effort. First year defender Noelani Ajel of Texas Lutheran was consistently shutting opponents forwards, as her one on one defending helped secure a pair of wins last weekend. Her ability to read situations & break up play was superb for our backline.
