NICHOLAS JONES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior first baseman/outfielder from Southlake, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Monday, February 10 through Sunday, February 16. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 2
Jones led 15th-ranked Trinity to a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference sweep of Austin College to open the 2025 season this past weekend. The junior had an unbelievable start to the season by hitting .750 (6-for-8) with nine runs scored and seven RBI over the three-game series. He added six walks to boost his on-bast percentage to .857 and he held a slugging percentage of 1.875, hitting two doubles, two triples, and a home run during the weekend. Jones finished the series with his best game, going 3-for-3 with four runs and four RBI, and was just a single shy of hitting for the cycle.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior infielder Joseph Coon of Ozarks highlighted the Eagles' double-header sweep against Schreiner on Friday with a monster performance at the plate. In game one, Coon went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI. In game two that day, Coon blasted another three-run home run and drove in five runs. He also doubled twice in that game. Coon played flawless defense from his second base position recording a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Junior outfielder Kash Durkin of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs offensively in his first action with the squad as the Blinn College transfer hit a blistering .615 with two homers and six RBIs and five total extra base hits. Junior infielder Tres Organ of Southwestern batted .444 (4-for-9) with a double, three runs scored, one RBI and five walks as the Pirates took the conference-opening series 2-1 against University of Dallas. The junior also stole four bases. Senior outfielder Xavier Escobar of McMurry batted .444 (4-for-9) with a double and a home run among his four hits, dirving in five and score three times as the War Hawks took two of three games in their conference-opener against Concordia (Texas). Senior outfielder Dylan Lamb of St. Thomas was a force at the plate, hitting .444 (4-for-9) across two games while racking up four RBIs and two runs scored as the Celts split a pair of non-conference games against Hardin-Simmons. Showcasing his power, Lamb tallied three triples, bringing his slugging percentage to an impressive 1.111 in two games, with a .545 on-base percentage.
