Maddie Fate, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 8)

MADDIE FATE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a fifth-year middle blocker from New York, N.Y., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 14 through Sunday, October 20. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 8)

Fate continued her dominance on the court in the 21st-ranked Tigers' two conference matches over the weekend. Fate totaled 20 kills (3.33 kills per set), a .357 hitting percentage, and 25.5 total points. Against Schreiner, Fate totaled seven kills (3.50 kills per set) and hit a staggering .500. Against Texas Lutheran, Fate collected 13 kills on a .300 hitting percentage (3.25 kills per set). Fate was also good defensively, totaling nine blocks. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outside hitter Carolyn Dormady of Colorado College led the Tigers with 17 kills and added 11 digs in CC's four-set victory over Austin College in the battle for first place in the SCAC Blue Division. She followed up with six kills and three digs in a three-set sweep over Dickinson. Dormady also had three aces and three total blocks during the weekend. Junior outside hitter Carly Berkman of Southwestern provided consistent hitting that helped the Pirates to a 2-0 weekend with wins over Concordia (Texas) and Texas Lutheran. Berkman scored twenty-five total kills in the two games, hitting .228 for the week. She was also key on the defensive end for the Pirates, averaging a .947 reception rate as well as four total blocks. Junior outside hitter Audrey Cataline of St. Thomas had 16 kills with a .255 attack percentage in the Celts only match of the week, a 3-1 loss to Austin College.Senior outside hitter Brylie Nedd of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with 31 kills (3.44 per set), including a double-double (17 kills/17 digs) against Trinity, in the team's two conference matches last week. Senior outside hitter Jacee Dinkins of McMurry had 13 kills (3.25 per set) and added 19 digs as the War Hawks defeated Dallas, 3-1, in the team's only match of the week. Senior middle hitter Mattie Duncan of Austin College had a strong weekend as the 'Roos went 2-1, including victories over Dickinson College and St. Thomas. Duncan led the 'Roos with a 2.08 kills-per-set average and boasted a .246 attacking percentage, and had a high of 11 kills in the team's win over Dickinson. Duncan also had 13 block assists for the weekend.
