CAROLYN DORMADY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior outside hitter from Los Altos, Calif., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 23 through Sunday, September 29. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 5)
Dormady led the Tigers to a pair of sweeps last weekend. She led CC with 15 kills and posted a career-high .700 hitting percentage against Dallas, then added a match-high 17 kills vs. McMurry. Dormady had 32 kills (5.33 per set) and just three errors for a .537 hitting percentage during the weekend. She also had 12 digs and six aces.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outside hitter Marissa Drange of Trinity had an excellent weekend, collecting 21 total kills with a .318 hitting percentage during the team's sweeps of Schreiner and Concordia. Her 4.20 kills per set were a season and career high and she also led the team with 4.5 points per set. Drange had her best match against Concordia where she had 12 kills on 21 attempts and had a .476 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Brylie Nedd of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 conference weekend with 28 kills (4.00 per set). The senior averaged 4.5 points per set as TLU improved to 3-1 and a tie for second in the SCAC Gold Division. First-year outside hitter Kate Spinelli of Southwestern played a major role in the Pirates' offensive end in their win against Schreiner. Spinelli led the team in kills with twelve on the night while hitting a massive .632 on just nineteen total attempts. Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Sadler of Austin College, in the lone competition of the week for the 'Roos, totaled 11 kills with zero attacking errors for a .579 hitting percentage in a 3-0 road win at Centenary. Junior outside hitter Audrey Cataline of St. Thomas had total of 25 kills (3.13 per set) and hit .308 as the Celts posted SCAC wins over McMurry and Dallas. She also added 10 service aces.
