MACKENZIE LOGAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior outside hitter from Alberta, Canada, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 9 through Sunday, October 15. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 7)
Logan led 11th-ranked Trinity to four wins last week, highlighted by three SCAC wins at home to keep the Tigers undefeated atop the conference standings. Logan had an incredible weekend with 52 points and 5.0 kills per set (season average 3.64 kills/set). She tallied 68 total kills this week, moving to the top of the SCAC in the category, and set a career-high with 21 kills in the weekend opener against St. Thomas.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Graduate student Brooke Byer of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to a 3-0 weekend in San Antonio which included victories over Texas Lutheran and St. Thomas, both positioned higher in the conference standings heading into the matches. Byer averaged 2.71 kills per match in the conference wins and chipped in defensively with 65 digs and three blocks. Junior setter/outside hitter Shavonne Respondek of Texas Lutheran posted two triple-doubles and tallied at least a double-double in all four matches in TLU's 2-2 week. Her performances this weekend return her to the top five in the nation in triple doubles and she leads the region with four on the season. Senior outside hitter Isabella Lipacis of Colorado College led the Tigers to a 2-1 record last weekend with 51 kills and 44 digs, including a career-high 24 digs against Texas Lutheran. She also tied her season-high with 19 kills in that same match.
