SAMANTHA GRAHAM OF AUSTIN COLLEGEa sophomore rightside hitter from Sherman, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 18 through Sunday, September 24. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 4)

Graham came up big this weekend to lead the ‘Roos to a 3-0 record and 2-0 in SCAC play.  She had 39 kills in 10 sets averaging 3.9 kills/set, along with one assist and 23 digs in the ‘Roos three matches. On Saturday Graham recorded double-digit kills, hitting an impressive .325 in the wins against SCAC opponents, topping Centenary 3-1 and Dallas 3-1.

She showed some versatility as well by putting up 19 kills against the Crusaders. Graham also added 12 digs, 3.0 digs/set, 44 total attacks and 4 saves.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior setter Shavonne Respondek of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 weekend behind a team-high 29 kills and 63 assists while adding 55 digs defensively. Respondek would also record her second triple double in the match against Colorado College. She managed 29 kills and 2.42 kills/set. She also finished with 2.8 points/set. Sophomore outside hitter Audrey Cataline of St. Thomas led the Celts to two wins against Colorado College and Schreiner, averaging 3.62 kills per set while hitting .164 over the three game weekend. Cataline’s 47 kills, 4.1 points/set and 53 total points led the Celts to 2-1. First-year outside hitter Giana Hilliard of Schreiner was key this weekend in the Mountaineers two wins, posting a hitting percentage of .457 with only one error in 17 total attacks against McMurry on Tuesday. Hilliard ended with 67 kills and three blocks. Senior outside hitter Mackenzie Logan of Trinity led the Tigers to a 3-0 weekend to open SCAC play, extending the team’s winning streak to seven consecutive matches. Logan tied her career-high with 17 kills against St. Thomas and Texas Lutheran, averaging 4.25 kills/set in both matches. She led the team with 48 total kills over the weekend, averaging 3.69 kills/set and hitting .272 percent over three matches. Senior outside hitter Keeley Kandziora of Colorado Colorado led the Tigers tp a 2-2 weekend with 52 kills. Kandziora had a season-high 20 kills against Texas Lutheran, averaging 4.00 kills/set and two service aces. She leads all Colorado College hitters with a .263 hitting percentage and is second on the Tigers team with 133 kills this season.
