TRAJAN LEE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior right-handed pitcher from Dallas, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 24 through Sunday, March 30. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 8
Lee led seventh-ranked Trinity to a SCAC road weekend series win at the University of Dallas, taking two out of the three games. Lee struck out nine batters and issued just one walk during a one-hit shutout in game two of the Saturday doubleheader. That performance was crucial after the Tigers lost the opening game of the series, and the win propelled the team to outscore the Crusaders 24-1 over the final two games. Lee improved to 6-0 this season with the win and his nine strikeouts are his second-highest total of the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior left-handed pitcher Tyler Herrera of Centenary continued his impressive season as he worked 7.2 innings in the Diamond Gents' 6-5 comeback victory on Saturday against Ozarks in game one of a DH at home as he allowed just two earned runs and five hits with two walks and five strikeouts. He faced 30 batters and threw 107 pitches - 60 for strikes. Herrera allowed a two-out home run in the top of the first and then set down 16 straight Eagles batters until allowing a leadoff walk in the top of the seventh. In game one, Wallace earned his fifth save of the season as he recorded a strikeout and put no runners on base in the 4-1 victory. In game two, Wallace entered the game in the seventh with the Tornados down 5-4 and two runners in scoring position. He would get out of the inning with no more runs scored as he struck out four batters and only allowed one run in the 11-6 win.
