RYAN CORBETT OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior right-handed pitcher from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 16. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 6
Corbett made three appearances last week for the Pirates, going 1-0 in 7.2 innings of work. Over is three appearances, Corbett allowed just one unearned run, scattered four hits and struck out six. He picked up the win in the Pirates 7-4 victory over McMurry, tossing three innings without allowing a single run. For the week, Corbett posted a perfect 0.00 ERA and a sparkling 1.04 WHIP.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Dakota Palmer of Concordia (Tex.) was dominant on the mound in a game two victory of Ozarks last weekend in SCAC play. He stuck out a career-high 12 batters in only 6.0 innings of action, allowing just four hits and one earned run, while striking out the side in both the fourth and sixth innings to secure the win. Senior right-hander Jonathan Enriquez of McMurry came out of the pen to earn the win in the War Hawk’s 8-6 victory over Southwestern on Saturday. Enriquez went six innings, allowing just three earned runs, while striking out six to hold on for the win. Senior right-handed pitcher Luke Rogers of Schreiner tossed four shutout innings out of the bullpen to secure the Mountaineers 9-4 win over Centenary on Saturday. The win helped secure the series victory for Schreiner over the Gents. Junior right-hander Triston McGowan of Texas Lutheran earned a win in the Bulldogs 9-2 victory over Dallas on the road last Sunday. McGowan went six innings, allowing just one earned run and scattered five hits, while striking out four. First-year left-handed pitcher Jace Clay of Trinity helped the Tigers salvage a 3-3 week that included a four-game series split against No. 24 SUNY Cortland. Clay earned the victory in the final game of the week and the final game of the series against Cortland, allowing just two runs on six hits over 7.1 innings, and striking out eight batters against just one walk.
