TRISTON MCGOWAN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior right-handed pitcher from Vidor, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 17 through Sunday, March 23. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 7
McGowan went the distance on Saturday, securing the series win for the Bulldogs at home against Austin College, tossing all nine innings in a 6-2 victory for TLU. He scattered five hits over the game, allowing just two earned runs and striking out eight. McGowan walked just three batters to post a sparkling .89 WHIP and a 2.00 ERA on the week.

Senior Asher Thompson of Austin College had an outstanding week on the bump for the ‘Roos, going 2-0 with wins over Blackburn and Texas Lutheran. Thompson started the week with a non-conference win against the Beavers, going 3.0 innings and striking out four batters, and followed that up with a stellar performance in which he went 8.1 innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with four whiffs to help the 'Roos get their first win over TLU since 2017. Senior Dakota Palmer of Concordia secured a win on the bump in the Tornados’, 12-2, win over Centenary on Saturday. Palmer tossed seven full innings, tossing a career-high 122 pitches, scattering six hits and allowing just two earned runs, while striking out five. Palmer now tied for second in the SCAC with 40 strikeouts on the year and second in the conference with 44.2 innings pitched this season. Senior Bryson Morrill of McMurry made two electric appearances last week for the War Hawks, including earning a save in the series opener against St. Thomas on Friday. Morrill tossed three innings over the two appearances, recording a strikeout for five of his six total outs accounted for, allowed just one hit and zero runs. Sophomore Max Sauceda of Schreiner picked up a win in the Mountaineers, 14-10, triumph over Dallas last Saturday. Sauceda tossed seven innings, scattering four hits and allowing just two earned runs, while striking out three to earn the win. He walked just one batter to post an impressive 0.71 WHIP. Sophomore Brandon Morio of Trinity led the eighth-ranked Tiger baseball team to a 4-1 record last week, including a weekend SCAC series sweep against Ozarks. Morio made just one appearance last week and made the most of his first start of the season. He struck out five batters over 6.0 innings to earn the win, scattering nine hits and allowing just one run. Morio's five strikeouts tie his best total this year and he improved to 2-0 with the victory.
