CARTER CODE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Calgary, Canada, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 26 through Tuesday, April 1. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 7)
Code won a tournament for the first time in his college career after shooting a 73 in his final round of the West Region Invite on Tuesday, to finish three-under (213). Code's first tournament win came courtesy of consistent high-quality golfing across three rounds. On day one he finished even-par after the first round before shooting four-under in the second. A one-over 73 on day two meant that Carter finished with a three-shot lead at three-under. He knocked in three birdies on the day, bringing his total to 15 for the tournament - the most of any player.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Bryce Steimert of Southwestern finished at +4 (220) and tied for sixth at the West Region Invitational, which was hosted by Southwestern. Steimert, who had rounds of 75, 72 and 73, led the Pirates to a fourth place team finish at the event contested at Berry Creek Country Club. Junior Iain Griggs of Dallas posted a top five finish at the Rhodes College Spring Invitational, firing rounds of 72, 78 and 72 to finish at 222 (+6). Griggs led the way for the Crusaders with his third place finish, propelling his team to a fifth-place finish at the event. Sophomore Aubrey Snell of Centenary, along with teammate Andrew Bennett, tied for 25th place to lead the way for the Gents at the West Region Invitational, shooting 13-over par 229. Snell shot rounds of 78, 76 and 75. Junior Kaden English of Concordia (Texas), along with teammate Christopher Reitmeyer, both finished tied for fifth with three-round totals of 221 at the LeTourneau/Eagles Bluff Intercollegiate. English posted rounds of 73, 74 and 74 to finish at 8-over par as the Tornados finished four in the 11-team field. First-year Tripten Roberts of McMurry tied for 15th at the LeTourneau/Eagles Bluff Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 229. After an opening 84, Roberts bounced back to fire rounds of 71 and 74 to finish at +16 for the event.
