Franz pitched a masterpiece, earning the win with six strikeouts while allowing only one hitter on-base in 5.0 innings of work as the Tornados defeated Howard Payne 15-2 in game two of a three-game weekend sweep.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year right-hander Tyler Hughes of Centenary was impressive in his collegiate debut for the Diamond Gents on Sunday as he started on the mound versus Huntingdon and worked five innings and allowed just one earned run and five hits with no walks and five strikeouts. He faced 20 batters and threw 69 pitches - 43 for strikes. Junior right-hander Hunter Poe of McMurry pitched five scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 8-0 shutout of Huntingdon. Poe struck out three and walked two while scattering four hits.
