Flores, a senior from Houston, Texas, and Cushing, a sophomore from Colleyville, Texas, powered past NCAA I Incarnate Word's Lauren Fulgenzi and Sophia Kermet to post a 6-4 victory in line-one doubles Saturday on UIW's campus, clinching the doubles point of the NCAA I scoring format. Flores and Cushing linked up Sunday to push the Tigers to an eventual 9-0 shutout of in-region foe Hardin-Simmons with their 8-3 victory from the top line.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Christina Heffron and junior Gracie Dereemer of Colorado College posted a 3-0 week at No. 2 doubles for the Tigers, which included a 6-0 victory over NAIA Midland University on Saturday. Junior Anamarie Gonzalez and junior Alejandra Lopez of St. Thomas cruised to an 8-0 sweep at No. 1 doubles in Saturday's SCAC win over Texas Lutheran.
