ASHLYN ZINGELMANN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 17th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 7)
Zingelmann solidified a Trinity defensive effort that was outstanding last weekend, posting a pair of shutout wins over Austin College and Dallas. It marked the seventh and eighth time this season the Tigers have posted a shutout, including five of their last six fixtures. Zingelmann and the Tigers limited opponents to just five shots combined in the two matches, with just a single shot on target. She also got involved offensively, scoring the game-winning goal in the 80th minute in Trinity’s 1-0 win over Dallas last Sunday.
Senior defender May Lien Le of Dallas was once again the anchor in a Crusader defense that posted a shutout in a 2-0 win over Schreiner last week and limited Trinity to just one goal in a tight 1-0 loss last Sunday. It marked just the first conference goal of the season that Dallas has conceded, the fewest goals allowed in SCAC play by anytime this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Rivera of Schreiner registered 11 saves in 200 minutes of action last week, collecting four in the Mountaineers’ match against Dallas and then securing seven in a 2-2 double overtime draw against Austin College. Rivera is currently in fourth in the SCAC with 48 saves on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Johnna Campbell of Southwestern posted a 0.50 GAA average last weekend in a pair of wins, corralling one save and posting one shutout in 180 minutes of action for the Pirates. Campbell is currently third in the SCAC with a 0.69 GAA on the season.
