KIONA HSIU OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Missouri City, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, October 12 through Tuesday, October 18. SCAC Golf Release (Week 6)
Hsiu finished tied for 21st at the prestigious Golfweek Division III Fall Invite which was contested across three days at the 5,601 yard, par 72 Baytowne Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida. Hsiu posted her third consecutive 76 (+4) Tuesday to leap nine spots in the elite field and lead the Tigers to a top 10 finish. A pair of par-five birdies on the fifth and 13th pins aided the reigning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion in her final-day ascent.
Hsiu was one of just 10 players in the 120-player field to finish the par 5s at under par for the week.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Ryleigh Erickson of Southwestern tied for 27th in the 120-player field, bookending a par of 79s with a 72 on Monday, to finish at 230 (+14). She had 37 pars over the three rounds which was good for fourth in the field.
