KIONA HSIU OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Missouri City, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, September 7 through Tuesday, September 13. SCAC Golf Release (Week 1)
The reigning SCAC Golfer-of-the-Year, Hsiu opened her junior campaign by leading Trinity to a team Co-Championship at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic on Tuesday. Hsiu paced all SCAC athletes individually with a second-place finish after a two-round total of 147 (+3), highlighted by her opening round two-under par 70. She finished just two shots off the individual title and 10-strokes clear of third place .
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Ryleigh Erickson of Southwestern paced the Pirates at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic, finishing tied for third with a two-round total of 157 (+13). Erickson entered the final round in fourth place and posted a 78 to jump into a tie for third. Sophomore Kimberly Burch of Dallas finished tied for seventh at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic after posting rounds of 79 and 81 to sit at 16-over par. First-year Emmie Rhude of Schreiner opened her collegiate career finishing tied for 16th at the TLU Lady Bulldog Invitational after firing a two-day total of 169, highlighted by an opening round of 83. Senior Wynter Flores of Texas Lutheran paced the Bulldogs at their own Lady Bulldog Invitational, climbing the leaderboard 11 spots from the opening round with a final round total of 82.
